In a delightful tale from Fort Worth, Texas, a 27-year-old woman has experienced the joy of befriending a once-feral cat named Agatha, affectionately known as Aggie.
Captured in a heartwarming TikTok video, she shares a tender moment with Aggie, who now welcomes pets and cuddles after months of cautious interactions.
“Watch the feral cat I took in (with her 4 babies) finally let me love her,” reads the caption accompanying the viral video.
Quin, the woman behind the TikTok account @jobiquin, shared her experience, saying, “She had to be brave surviving out there in the wild. She is actually a very sweet cat. You can tell she wants to be loved.”
Aggie’s journey began in March-April when she first appeared in the backyard of Quin’s neighbors.
Initially terrified of humans, Aggie found solace with the neighbors’ cats. After her first litter in April, Quin and her neighbors fostered the kittens until they were adopted into loving homes.
“My neighbor tried for MONTHS to catch Aggie but couldn’t and she fell pregnant again,” Quin explained.
It was only after Aggie’s second litter in August that they successfully caught her and the kittens, bringing them into Quin’s care.
Building trust with Aggie was a gradual process, aided by squeezable treats.
“I would put it on my finger and let her lick a little at a time. Slowly I would pet her while doing it,” Quin recounted.
“Now the past week she just comes up to me and lets me pet her.”
Though Quin’s household is bustling with another cat and three dogs, they have decided to keep Aggie.
“You can tell Aggie just wants to be loved. She is just a baby that was lost in the world and we want to be that safe place for her.”
Looking ahead, they plan to ensure Aggie’s comfort and safety by getting her fixed and allowing her outdoor adventures with a collar and location device.
“Our neighbors inside/outside cats Itty bitty, Max and Zelda… were actually really good friends and hung out,” Quin noted.
The video has touched many on social media, garnering over 1.6 million views and 458,600 likes.
One viewer, Alyssa, commented, “Winning the heart of a feral cat is the most beautiful feeling.”
Another user expressed, “I don’t think non-cat people understand what it means to gain the trust of a feral cat, it’s not easy & when it happens it’s so incredibly beautiful.”
This story serves as a reminder of the patience and care needed when befriending feral cats, often leading to a rewarding and loving companionship.
