  • Fitzy the golden retriever was going on a walk with his owner when he simply refused to continue.
  • His owner joked that he was “pretending” that his “bones are broken” to get out of the exercise.
  • Fitzy got away with it and was carried for the rest of the journey.

Fitzy, a golden retriever puppy, gained fans on TikTok when a video showed him refusing to continue on a walk.

The video showed a clip of Fitzy lying on the ground, refusing to move any further. The next clip showed him being carried by his owner for the rest of the hike!

The TikTok video caption read, “Help! I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.” Fitzy’s owner added a text overlay reading, “Pretending my bones are broken so I have to be carried 30 seconds into our hike.”

The video has since received over 529,000 views and 86,000 likes.

A viewer commented, “Oh no, he’s starting the golden “I’m done with this” thing early!”

Golden retrievers are known for having moderately high energy, which requires them to be mentally stimulated regularly, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC).

Some TikTok viewers observed, however, that the puppy may just be too young to go on a hike.

The AKC added that even puppies of large breeds “should not be exercised too much, as over-exercising could cause joint and bone problems.”

According to the AKC, 6-month-old pups can go on long walks, but dog owners have to make sure that their pup is in good health through regular vet check-ups. They added, “Long hikes over rough terrain or strenuous agility classes are still potentially dangerous.”

Some exercise tips they shared for puppies include: training on how to walk on a leash, starting with short walks that have regular breaks, walking on safe and flat surfaces, avoiding sharp or slippery terrain, and avoiding walking on hot and cold days.

Fitzy’s owner assured viewers that the walk was more of a “scenic” one. We can also see that she didn’t force Fitzy to continue walking — she was more than happy to carry him for the rest of the walk!

Viewers loved how Fitzy looked as he was carried like a baby. One comment read, “Funny boy. His upside down teefs,” while another commented, “That upside down face is precious.”
