When Shannen Standiford, a 27-year-old from San Diego, California, spotted a basket full of large versions of her dog’s favorite toy, she knew she had to buy one. The resulting video of her golden retriever Chance’s reaction has since gone viral on TikTok.

In the video, 5-year-old Chance is seen gently playing with a hand-sized stuffed pickle toy adorned with a smiley face and a Santa hat. The clip then shows a basket full of larger versions of the toy in a Petco store, followed by Chance receiving the toy and instantly falling in love with it.

“The small pickle is safe from destruction but there are no promises on the big pickle,” Standiford told Newsweek. “Chance is known to enjoy destroying bigger stuffed animals after some time with them, but we’re hoping for a long and happy life for his big pickle since he seemed to love it so much!”

Chance inherited the tiny toy from his cat brother Hennessy, who passed away 18 months ago.

Standiford, a dog trainer, explained, “Since he was a puppy, Chance would always so gently try to steal the pickle when the cat wasn’t looking but when he passed away. The pickles permanently made their way into Chance’s pile of small stuffies.”

The video is captioned with the text: “Now he has one big happy pickle family.” It has garnered over 221,000 views and more than 740 comments, proving to be a hit online.

Users have shared their love for the video, with one saying, “The baby pickle will always be his favorite,” and another commenting, “This made my heart happy.”
