“Greetings, Toronto”: Thoughtful Initiative Spreads Uplifting Notes Across the City
- When one woman was going through a rough patch, she came across a message that showed her how positive affirmations can help.
- So she wanted to spread similar affirmations across the city.
- The “Greetings, Toronto” initiative leaves thoughtful, uplifting notes across the city to help brighten someone’s day.
This past year has been trying for all of us. Any kind of support, no matter how small, is incredibly welcome.
So the “Greetings, Toronto” initiative recognized this need and did its best to provide encouragement.
1. A Canadian woman launched the initiative to assure everyone that they’re not alone.
2. Along with two friends, they leave thoughtful handwritten notes of support all around the city’s public places, such as parks, bus stops, and campuses.
3. Every note reads like a handwritten letter, aimed to uplift, encourage, or simply acknowledge what you’re probably feeling right now.
4. The members of the initiative hope to reach a lot of people even while remaining anonymous.
5. It turns out that social media inspired the founder of Greetings, Toronto while “going through a bit of a rough patch.”
6. She shared, “My mental health took a decline and my days began feeling dull.”
7. But then, she saw a message that encouraged the practice of positive affirmations, which train us to feel happiness amid tough times.
8. When she started “practicing saying kind and positive things” to herself, she noticed that her mood immediately improved.
9. She wanted everyone to be uplifted, too, so she decided to spread the positive affirmations all over the city.
10. “We want to spread love with anyone and everyone in the city,” she said. “So whether you’re on a busy road commuting to work or you’re simply looking for some peace and quiet in a park, we hope that you’ll come across our messages and feel uplifted either way.”
11. Their Instagram handle is listed on the bottom of each note so people who come across it can share and spread the messages online. That way, their messages can uplift not just people in Toronto but anyone across the world.
12. The founder hopes that the notes help brighten people’s days and perhaps even inspire them to pay the kindness forward and help make the world a better place.
13. So many people were given hope thanks to the little uplifting notes.
14. She concluded, “It is important that now, more than ever, we remind each other that better days are ahead and to keep the faith while we get through this.”
They may only be simple, handwritten notes, but each message can be just what some people need for a better day.
It’s simply heartwarming to know that a stranger cares for our well-being.
