Heroic Husky Bella Chases Away Bear to Protect Young Boy

Jeffrey Tazzara was busy preparing for a Fourth of July celebration at his Connecticut home when he heard Bella, his husky, barking with unusual urgency.

He sensed trouble but could never have guessed what was unfolding just outside.

“A vicious bark, not like she barks and yips and howls and stuff … this was a different kind of bark,” he told ABC News.

Home surveillance later revealed Bella sprinting after a bear that had wandered dangerously close to his young son.

“Bella finally caught up to the bear, like right in the middle of the driveway, and she bit it in the rear end, and the bear ended up crashing into my boat, and then I think [it] scurried under the boat and then through the back between the houses and into the woods,” Jeffrey Tazzara recalled.

Viewers were quick to praise Bella’s protective instincts.

“Look at the dog protecting its family. This is why I love dogs! They are amazing family members,” one viewer commented.

Another husky owner added, “I have two huskies, and they are the same way with my grandkids. Good job! Papi!”

Still another admirer suggested, “Give that dog plenty of hugs and kisses and buy him a huge steak!! She is the reason your son is alive! Love to you Bella!!!”

Jeffrey Tazzara was happy to oblige, treating Bella to a well-deserved steak dinner.
