  • Peter and Lisa Marshall have been married for 12 years.
  • A few years ago, Peter, 56, was diagnosed having early-onset Alzheimer’s, and his wife stayed by his side though he can’t remember her.
  • Last winter, not realizing they’ve already been married, Peter asked Lisa to marry her all over again!

Having someone, who doesn’t remember anything but falls in love with the same person, is just so special.

This is the case of Lisa Marshall, whose 56-year-old husband, Peter, suffers from early-onset Alzheimer’s. Nevertheless, Peter’s heart beats for the same person, no one else but his wife for 12 years.

Since Peter was diagnosed with the disease, Lisa has never left his side, though he could not remember her.

“He doesn’t know that I’m his wife. I’m just his favorite person,” Lisa told NBC News 4 New York’s Ida Siegal. “I don’t need to have a label. I don’t need a name because our hearts are connected.”

Last winter, as Peter and Lisa were watching a televised wedding on the couch, Peter suddenly had an idea. Not remembering that they were already married, he popped the question for Lisa to marry him — to which she answered yes.

When Lisa’s event planner daughter spread the word, wedding vendors offered their services for free!

All was set for the wedding, most especially the groom and bride. Throughout the ceremony, Peter was beaming, looking at his precious bride, as Lisa had always smiled back, at times with tears.

“It was so perfect. I couldn’t have dreamt for a better day. It was so magical,” Lisa told NBC. “I can’t remember seeing him so happy for so long… I’m the luckiest girl in the world. I [got] to do it twice.”

Though Peter failed again to remember that special day just a few months after, it might not have left any worry on Lisa, who has witnessed how his husband’s love remains even in times of sickness.

And who knows? There could be another wedding the third time around.
