  • A tiny kitty with cleft palate was rescued by the founder of Friends for Life Rescue Network Jacqueline DeAmor.
  • Jacqueline had experience in rehabilitating animals with cleft palates and took the tiny kitty named Bonsai in their care.
  • Bonsai has since recovered from a medical scare while in rehab and has grown to love cuddles which she never forgets to give and receive from the staff.

Animal rescuers are special people who give animals a better quality of life through their actions.  They believe that every animal deserves love, care and affection.  The world is a better place with them. And one kitty who was given a chance at a better life never forgets to say thanks by hugging her rescuers.

Bonsai, a half Maine coon and half highland lynx was born with a cleft nose. Her condition would require round-the-clock specialized care for monitoring and treatment.  As with others born with this congenital defect, she may have other medical issues.

Luckily, she came under the radar of Jacqueline DeAmor, founder of Friends for Life Rescue Network based in Los Angeles, California.  The non-profit group created a cross-country network of rescuers to stop animal euthanasia homelessness.  Jacqueline also has experience rehabilitating animals with cleft palates.

She drove four-and-a-half hours to pick the tiny kitten that only fit her palm. She believed that Bonsai’s life would be better with surgery, treatment and rehabilitation.

While in her care, Bonsai gave them a scare when she burped and breathed in some formula while sleeping causing pneumonia. They immediately placed her in an oxygen tent in intensive care. After a few days, her breathing stabilized and was able to regain her strength. At just 1 week old, she survived a major health issue!

In time, Bonsai grew strong and she began showing her loving personality. Volunteers saw how Bonsai would place her little paws on the side of their faces to give them a “hug.”  The adorable kitty loved cuddles.

Jacqueline shares, “She is by far the sweetest little baby.” She added, “After her milkies, we do lots of cuddles as it seems to help her burp while being pet. She loves to groom my face and hold my face with her paws.”

With her continued improvements, Jacqueline and her team hope for the love bug to have an adoptive family soon. She would make a wonderful companion as she is incredibly affectionate with humans.  This comes from being handled by humans her entire life.  She feels safe with humans. The lucky human who gets her is in for a lifetime filled with purrs, hugs and pure love.
