Kefir is named after the popular milky fermented drink.

Yulia Minina, from Stary Oskol, Russia, bought him nearly two years ago when he was just a little kitten. She never thought that such an ordinary-looking kitten could become as big as he is now.

Despite his sheer size, Yulia said that Kefir “always behaves calmly” and is “very smart” and affectionate.

Yulia shared, “When friends and acquaintances come to the house—all the attention is on him and he willingly allows himself to be stroked.”

When it comes to strangers, however, Kefir always gets mistaken for a dog.

The sweet cat also loves sleeping beside Yulia.

She said that it wasn’t any trouble when he was still a small kitten. ”But now he has become big and heavy, of course, it’s difficult to sleep like that,” especially since he likes to climb on her and snuggle.

Take a look at Kefir’s amazing growth spurt within less than two years:

It turns out that Maine Coons like Kefir are still expected to keep growing until three or four years old.

If you’re wondering if Kefir is really as big as he looks like, Yulia assured everyone that she doesn’t use Photoshop.
