Man builds mini bar where neighborhood squirrels can hang out [Video]

Welcome to “The Nutty Bar,” a unique outdoor bar, personalized and handcrafted for no other than the squirrels.

When Michael Dutko, a woodworker by hobby, noticed that squirrels were blocking his neighbors’ bird-watching with binoculars, he decided to build something to keep the rodents busy.

“I noticed my neighbor and her daughter bird-watching with binoculars, and they were really getting into it, but the squirrels kept getting in their way,” Michael told Insider.

Michael’s idea? An outdoor bar only for the squirrels, which he called “The Nutty Bar,” where the furry animals can enjoy pistachios, cashews, almonds, and other legumes and nuts.

He even gave clever, beer-inspired names to these offerings, such as Cashew Dunkel, Peanut Pilsner, Almond Ale, Pistachio Pale Ale, Walnut Sout, Sunflower Saison, and Pecan Porter.

Michael even completed the structure with a gendered restroom sign he jokingly titled “Nuts” and “No Nuts.”

The Ohio man started his tiny construction in July, where he spent a total of 16 hours building it — five and a half hours for cutting the wood, eight hours for designing and building, and three hours painting and polishing it.

On August 7, he shared how he did it on YouTube, leaving users fascinated with his creativity and meticulous woodwork skills.

“That was one of the cutest things I have ever seen. It is about time squirrels get their own hangout,” one user wrote.

Receiving huge interest in this work, Michael decided to apply to patent the product, which is currently in the patent-pending stage. He plans to sell the creations for around $175-$200 and continue building distinctive structures as part of his small business.

Besides the neighborhood squirrels relishing their outdoor bar time, Michael’s work has definitely made his neighbors very happy that they can bird-watch without the squirrels trying to spoil the moment.
