When a German motorist received a speeding ticket in the mail, he was confused by the picture attached.

The ticket stated that his vehicle has exceeded the speed limit, as evidenced by a traffic camera.

However, the image attached showed someone unexpected in the driver’s seat.

The photo seemed to be showing that a small white dog had been driving the vehicle!

But the little pup wasn’t a car thief, since he and the car belonged to the man, who was still surprised that his pet was caught speeding on camera.

The man’s nephew shared, “My first reaction was: ‘That can’t be real.’ I think my uncle was just as surprised.”

Despite the surprise, the dog did not take the car for a joyride by himself. He just went along for a ride with his owner, like usual.

His owner was the one driving the vehicle that day, and the dog was beside him. The pup just so happened to hop up on his owner’s lap at the exact moment that the vehicle passed the traffic cam.

The man’s nephew explained, “Normally, the dog wears a special car belt for the safety. That day, my uncle forgot to put it on him, and the dog came to cuddle him [as he was driving]. The funny part is, he was in his lap for just three seconds.”

Apparently, three seconds was enough for the pup to get caught on camera. His owner may have contested the ticket and won — either because it wasn’t his face on the traffic cam, or just the fact that the dog is cute.

Still, the man owned up to the ticket and paid the fine.

His nephew shared, “He paid it. But I can’t tell you what the authorities thought.” They may have been more confused than the dog’s family!
