Three weeks after Officer Didarul Islam’s passing, his wife Jamila welcomed a baby boy, Arham, surrounded by his two older brothers.

In a heartwarming announcement, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch shared, “Out of tragedy, a new life has entered this world.”

Arham joins his mom Jamila and brothers Ahyan and Azhaan, bringing a measure of hope during a challenging time.

Officer Islam was remembered for his bravery, serving both as a police officer and a private security guard during the July 28th tragedy.

Commissioner Tisch said, “Together, they will carry forward their father’s legacy of service and courage — a legacy the NYPD will guard and uphold with the same devotion Didar gave to this city.”

Islam’s legacy of devotion will continue to live on through his family and the entire NYPD community.

The NYPD has promised that Jamila and her three sons will always be part of their family, offering strength and unity as they look to the future.
