  • A pit bull mix found in the middle of train tracks in Philadelphia was rescued in time.
  • The poor dog severed his spinal cord, leaving him paralyzed after being run over by a train.
  • The dog is now undergoing therapy and may be able to go to a foster home.

In a Facebook post of the nonprofit Philly Rescue Angels, INC, the organization said, “Someone has literally dumped this poor dog on the train tracks, he has been laying here for TWO DAYS, he has literally been laying his body down and the train has been going over him.”  They added, “We are heartbroken, this is pure evil!”

Nobody knows how the poor pup ended up on the train tracks but the organization said that the dog may have been abandoned there after they found a collar and leash near the tracks.

The organization rescued the dog and brought the pup to the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine to be treated.  And for surviving the two-day ordeal, they named him Lucky.

Veterinarians said that when the dog got struck by a train, it severed its spinal cord leaving it paralyzed and unable to walk again.  They performed surgery and placed two plates on the spine to heal it. He was injected with pain meds and received his first therapy.

Lucky’s veterinary care has already reached nearly $18,000 and the organization has set up a fundraiser to cover his future therapy and medical care.

However, his doctors said that Lucky is “doing great,” and “He loves his harness and being able to get up and move around.”

Even more good news is that Lucky has a great appetite and a foster home will be waiting for him once he makes it out of the veterinarian.

Get well soon, Lucky!
