  • Photographer Nigel Wallace is capturing incredible photos of dogs mid-jump to catch their “superman flight” in all its glory.
  • The amazing photos showcase dogs leaping up to three feet above ground over fallen trees and branches.
  • Nigel said that he wants to give dog owners “something fun and different,” since such photos are difficult to capture on their own.

Nigel Wallace, a former Olympic rifle shooter, has been producing unique images for dog owners after becoming a photographer in 2018.

Nigel competed in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona and bagged a gold medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Malaysia. He then retired from rifle shooting in 2002 and worked at BT for 16 years before focusing on another kind of shooting: photoshoots for his dog photography business.

The eagle-eyed shooter is now using his sharpshooting skill to capture brilliantly timed photos of dogs “mid-flight.”

With help from the dogs’ owners, he entices the athletic animals to sprint towards the camera and jump over the obstacle.

The result is spectacular. The dogs are captured in mid-air as they leap over branches or a fallen tree.

In one of his photos, Darcie the border collie can be seen stretching out her paws as she makes the jump while staring straight down the camera.

The photos also offer a glimpse of the fun these dogs are having. Some can be seen with their tongue hanging on the side, while some have their fluffy ears bouncing above their heads.

“The shots are just fantastic,” Nigel shared. “The dogs can easily get two or three feet off the ground. They do the paws-out “superman flight” as I like to call it. You can almost draw a cape on the back of them.”

Nigel said that the photoshoots help provide “something fun and different” to dog owners who are not able to capture such photos during their walks.

He observed that all the dogs look different each time they make the jump. While spaniels are more easy-going and have really big ears that bounce about, border collies like staring straight at the camera while they jump.

Nigel assured everyone that they consider the dog’s ability, size, and health issues beforehand to “make sure it’s safe for the dog” to make the jumps.
