Puppy Stops Stealing Dish Towels Now That Quaker Oats Man Stands Guard In Front Of The Dishwasher

  • The little basset hound is brave, but not too much when the Quaker Oats Man is involved.
  • The puppy started pulling on the dishtowel from their kitchen and hides it one her bed whenever she gets the chance.
  • The family put the oats canister in front of the dishwasher, now Quaker Oats Man guards the dishtowel against the pup.

There is one thing that could stop this puppy from her routine and her quirks. There is one thing that she fears. Opal is afraid of the Quaker Oats Man. The family first introduced to the white-haired mascot to the dog when their mom tried to get her to play with the oats canister.

“My mom thought Opal would think it was a fun game to chase the rolling can,” Addie Crawford said. “But as it rolled toward her, she bolted in the other direction and barked her scariest bark!”

From that moment on, the canister of oats was hidden away. The Quaker Oats Man was put inside the cupboard for the little dog to feel at ease. One day, their mother went out of town for a little while, and the puppy decided to take advantage of the situation and act out.

“I stayed with my sister, dad and Opal to help out while [Mom] was out of town,” Addie said. “Opal was NOT happy that my mom ‘abandoned’ us, so she started some questionable new quirks to show us that she was less than content that Mom left.”

Opal started stealing the dish towels off the handle of the dishwasher. The pup drags them out of the kitchen, into her dog bed for safekeeping. This turned into a regular thing for the dog, so the family decided to take out their secret weapon to protect the dishtowels — and it worked.

[The Quaker Oats can] stays in front of the dishwasher where the dish towel is,” Addie said. “She goes out of her way to not walk right next to it and if she’s feeling extra feisty, she’ll sit and bark at it!”

The Quaker Oats Man was called to stand guard in front of the dishtowel. Opal waits for the man on the canister to move from his post, but that moment never came. The pup tests how close she could get to the dishtowel every time she enters the kitchen, but one “The Quaker is going to get you!” from her mom and the pup is on the run.

The problem with the dishtowel is no longer an issue, but the pup has put these activities on his schedule already. Opal now steals dirty laundry because of the security detail on the dishtowel. The pup drags the laundry into the kitchen, and hides them under the table where she thinks her loots are “invisible.”

There is an easy fix for this. The Crawfords need only to buy more oatmeal.
