- A dog mom and her eight pups were found abandoned in a field.
- The family is rescued by a shelter and one of the pups ends up being adopted by Taylor Lautner, the actor who played Jacob the wolf in the movie “Twilight”.
- The actor has always been a dog lover and now advocates for the adoption of shelter dogs.
In the movie Twilight, Taylor Lautner’s character Jacob is a Quileute-shapeshifter. At his will, Jacob turns into a wolf. And so, when news of him adopting a 1-year-old Belgian Malinois, we cannot help but think of Lautner’s character bringing home his own family.
Remi the pup and her 7 siblings, together with their mom were abandoned in a field. Luckily, The Labelle Foundation took them in and set out to find their forever homes. Lautner said, “An amazing foster took in the mom and all eight puppies even though she had a dog herself. We got [Remi] as soon as we could, at 10 weeks.”
Lautner and his fiancée Taylor Dome already share one dog but Taylor was open to adopting another dog, to which Lautner said was a no brainer. He added, “Tay sent photos of [Remi] and her story about being abandoned and I knew I had to get her right now. It’s been the best year of our lives — she’s a dream dog.”
The adoption paved the way for Lautner to advocate for adopting shelter dogs instead of shopping for new ones. He is now a part of 2022’s Hill’s Clear The Shelters campaign for would-be adopters to provide homes for dogs from foundations and shelters.
“I encourage people, if you’re ready to take that next step to be a pet parent, go to a local shelter and adopt,” Lautner added.
Hurray for Team Jacob!
