Only five years old, Jeremiah suffers from neuroblastoma, a cancer that develops from immature nerve cells.  He has been undergoing series of treatments, while enduring the current pandemic.

When local police officers learned about Jeremiah’s plight, they immediately arranged something very special for him: a ceremony to officially designate him as MCSO deputy!

In partnership with the Pediatric Cancer Foundation, the sheriff’s department took Jeremiah out of his daily routine and made him a police officer for one day!

Sheriff Rick Wells led the pinning ceremony, complete with a tour to meet members from different units.

Jeremiah also got to experience handling K-9 dogs, and rolling in the SWAT’s team’s BearCat armored vehicle. The best thing about this whole experience was when Jeremiah got his very own police officer badge!

According to his mom Danielle Isaza, Jeremiah has this fascination for police officers, and dreams of becoming one someday.

“He loves police officers. He’s always so excited to see them,” Daniella said. “Every time he gets out of the hospital, he’s always asking me if his police friends are going to come and say hi or anything, because they have done parades for him.”

Capping off Jeremiah’s special day was his very own cruiser, PAW Patrol style. But since he still couldn’t drive a car, his cruiser came as a personalized bicycle.

What a truly sweet and kind gesture from the county’s local heroes!
