Songwriters Murray Decock and Chris Roberts are celebrating a special achievement as winners of InspireMore’s Heaven & Nature Sing Promotion for their heartfelt track, “Every Christmas.” Their collaboration brought together Decock’s classical background and Roberts’s Broadway experience to create a unique holiday song.

“It’s not your typical Christmas song.”

Decock shared.

“There is a rather long runway into the first mention of Christmas, after acknowledging the need to really dig down deep, do a personal inventory, and start appreciating everything we have in our lives.”

Roberts was moved by the song’s message.

“I love the way this song made me feel through the holiday season,”

he explained.

He expressed his gratitude for the creative partnership.

Decock emphasized the spirit behind their winning track.

“There’s something about the Christmas season that makes everyone a little happier, more generous, more forgiving,”

he said.

“I wanted to use the song to reinforce just how different the world would be if we all just stretched that ‘magic’ throughout the 12 months of the year.”

For their prize, the duo chose to give back to the community.

“I’d love to give the donation to the Center for Contemplative Justice in Nashville, Tennessee. They are wonderful at advocating for those who need it most,”

Roberts said.

Both songwriters find inspiration in a variety of artists.

Decock admires Lori McKenna’s evocative storytelling.

“I always feel like I am living inside one of her songs when I am listening to her,”

he described.

Looking ahead to 2026, Decock hopes to have his new songs placed in TV and film, while also helping a budding record label grow.

Roberts has two new musicals debuting and has composed a requiem mass he aspires to perform widely.

Their dreams are as big as their talents.

“I’m already living my dream! I’m writing, recording and publishing my music. I get to work with some of the very best writers, producers, instrumentalists and vocalists in Nashville, London, Montreal, and NYC,”

Decock shared.

Roberts added his wish to compose music for a TV show he’s developing.
