  • A six-week-old abandoned kitten finds its way to a front porch and asks for help.
  • The homeowner hears the kitten’s insistent loud cries, brings her in and calls the local rescue.
  • The local rescue picks her up, treats her minor health issue and has now put her up for adoption.

When you are just 6-weeks old and you have no one who cares for you, you fight tooth and nail to survive. You search far and wide just to get to a place where you can find shelter and food to eat.

This is a small kitty named Nuggie’s reality.

So, when she stumbled on a front porch and saw lights inside, she knew a human was in there somewhere.  The human could help her. And so, she cried at her windowpane.  And when the human did not answer, she cried loudly and insistently for a long time.  For her, the human would have no choice but to hear her and take her in.

The human did and she brought her inside her house to keep her safe.  She even called the local rescue.

May Walsh of Detroit Community Cat Rescue said, “A Detroit resident contacted us about a tiny kitten less than a pound on their porch. She added, “They sent a photo, and we just couldn’t say no!”

May and her team immediately rescued the Nuggie. With just minor health issues treated, Nuggie is now a healthy and happy kitty.

May said, “She loves to play just a little more than she likes to cuddle, but she’s still so sweet. She reminds us of a cricket because she jumps around. Her whiskers are longer than her body, so she sometimes trips over them!”

The kitten who won’t accept “No” for an answer is up for adoption.  According to May, Nuggie brought joy into her life and the shelter. Nuggie is a fine example of why rescuing is rewarding for humans and cats.

Good job Nuggie and may you find your forever home soon!
