Taylor also makes sure to pay it forward and give back to the community through regular donations.
This year, the singer surprised two mothers who have been struggling without jobs amid the pandemic: Shelbie Selewski of Michigan and Nikki Cornwell of Nashville. Cornwell’s family contracted COVID-19, while Selewski has a sick infant.
The two moms were recently featured in The Washington Post. After the article got Taylor’s attention, she made $13,000 donations to each — she factored in her favorite number, 13!
Sometimes stories move us toward action, connecting us to strangers. After reading @ByHeatherLong‘s article about a Nashville mother behind in rent during the pandemic, @TaylorSwift13 donated to the mother’s online fundraiser with a kind note. pic.twitter.com/OJerQ4qKfm

Taylor also posted heartfelt messages to both women’s GoFundMe pages:
She wrote on Cornwell’s page, “Nikki, I read about you in the Washington Post and thought it was really brave of you to share your story. I’m so sorry for everything you’ve had to go through this year and wanted to send you this gift, from one Nashville girl to another.”
She wrote on Selewski’s page, “No one should have to feel the kind of stress that’s been put on you. I hope you and your beautiful family have a great holiday season.”
After Swift’s donation, both Cornwell and Selewski quickly exceeded their goals!

Cornwell updated her page, saying, “Thank you a million times everyone if you all only knew how I feel I can’t began to describe im so grateful and im so shocked I still can’t believe it’s a dream come true big hugs and sending love to everyone thank you!!!”

Selewski also updated her page, saying, “With every notification I swear I cannot believe this has happened!!! This is so amazing! This has been the biggest blessing and our family is absolutely shocked.”
Taylor surely knows how to help others in life-changing ways.
