In the midst of a dreary downpour, a bright act of kindness was observed in Brazil that would melt the coldest of hearts.

From the safety of her apartment, Mayane Rodrigues caught sight of a heartwarming scene unfolding on the rain-soaked street below.

A schoolgirl, later identified as 13-year-old Cibely Stiegelmair, paused in her journey home.

Setting down her umbrella and backpack, she removed her jacket.

Rodrigues then noticed the reason for these actions: a drenched stray puppy was shivering at Cibely’s feet.

The young girl then did something remarkable. “It all happened so quickly. It was very emotional,” Rodrigues shared with The Dodo.

“I watched as she cradled the dog in her arms and continued on her way. To me, she was like an angel.”

Upon her arrival home, Cibely’s mother, Rejane Stiegelmair, was taken aback.

The girl was drenched, sweaty, and her shirt was stained with blood. But Cibely quickly reassured her worried mom.

“I thought she had been hurt,” Rejane admitted, “but she told me she found the puppy injured.”

Fortunately, the pup’s injuries were minor, something love and care could mend. Recognizing the lonely and vulnerable puppy, Cibely felt compelled to provide that care herself.

Rejane revealed, “Cibely has a very good heart. She feels very sorry for stray dogs. If she could bring them all home, she would.”

Now part of the Stiegelmair family, the puppy, whom Cibely named Pretinha, has been lovingly welcomed into their home.

While it remains a mystery how Pretinha ended up stranded on that rainy sidewalk, what is clear is the dog’s brighter future, thanks to Cibely’s kindness.

“As parents, we are proud of Cibely and always have been,” beamed Rejane.

“But now we’re even more so!”
