Luke, 20, from Kent, U.K., is the proud owner of two delightful Westies – Doris, a female, and Hamish, a male. He revealed an unusual characteristic of Hamish’s: “He dislikes animals on the TV.”

The video compiles footage displaying tortoises engaged in various ordinary activities; eating, walking, and simply being, all shown on the TV screen. However, Hamish views these harmless reptiles as adversaries to be confronted. He first attacks a toy before leaping at the television, energetically growling and barking, accompanied by Luke’s laughter in the background.

Meanwhile, Doris remains unaffected by the reptiles on the screen and her brother’s behavior. She continues to amble around nonchalantly, contributing to the amusing quality of the scene.

Luke further clarified that Hamish, a 6-year-old rescue they adopted when he was 18 months old, can also be “a bit funny around animals in person, so we keep a close eye on him.” He added, “He’s very affectionate and loves a cuddle.” On the other hand, Doris is an amiable and social dog who is “fine with all animals and is really friendly.”

West Highland white terriers, also known as Westies, are popular pets worldwide and ranked as the 43rd most-liked breed in the United States in 2023, according to data from the American Kennel Club. Westies are praised for their intelligence, assurance, and appeal. Bred to be rodent hunters, these dogs retain their independent and self-sufficient traits, as showcased in Hamish’s viral video.

TikTok viewers found Hamish’s reaction highly entertaining, with one user jokingly commenting that he was “taking it out on the teddy.” Another shared a similarity with their own Westie, stating: “I had to put the TV on the wall.” A third suggested that Hamish might have been “savaged by a tortoise in a past life.”
