Wandering Stray Puppy Finds New Dad In Naval Base

  • A stray dog wandered off to an overseas naval base where the commander himself scooped him up.
  • The commander adopted him and he quickly became a part of the naval base family.
  • Griffon will follow when the commander returns Stateside.

For 6-month-old stray dog Griffon, the streets were his home.  Any chance of being adopted by a loving family was relegated to the back of his mind.  Surviving each day is a priority.

But fate intervened for him as his wandering led him to an overseas naval base where he met the naval commander himself!

The nonprofit organization that provides service dogs to veterans and first responders, Paws of War, wrote on Facebook, “A U.S. Naval Commander saw the little dog and immediately recognized he wouldn’t survive long alone in such a dangerous environment; scooping the pup up into his arms as he was reminded of his unit’s motto, ‘Those who arrive alive, leave alive’ and he knew it had to apply to this little soul too.”

Not long after, Griffon became a part of the base’s family and is seen following the commander everywhere.

He has captured the heart of the commander who has decided to adopt him. And when the commander returns Stateside, Griffon will be joining him.

And when they reunite, the commander, his wife and kids will welcome him home in Maryland.

Paws of War spokesperson Gary Baumann said, “Griffon is a super pup. He loves everyone and every dog he meets, and loves to eat. He is doing great.”
