In a “purrfectly” hilarious tale that’s taken TikTok by storm, one ambitious tuxedo cat has shown that not even a washing machine mishap can deter a feline on a mission.

The adorable saga begins with a viral video shared by TikTok user @abbieleigh020200.

In it, her curious tuxedo cat is seen perched atop a refrigerator, his eyes locked on a fly buzzing around the room. But like all great stories, there’s a plot twist.

In his zeal to capture the pesky insect, the cat leaps towards the washing machine across the room, unfortunately failing to notice the open door.

With a giant “thud,” the cat tumbles into the washing machine drum, earning him a spot in the ‘cat-astrophe’ hall of fame.

But don’t fret, fellow cat lovers, our feline protagonist is a determined one.

According to the video’s caption, he ultimately succeeded in his mission to catch the fly. Now that’s what we call a “paws-itive” outcome!

The cat’s epic fail, shared on April 24, has already racked up over 838,000 views and 125,700 likes, leaving TikTok users in stitches.

One user dubbed it “Wipeout: cat edition,” while another jokingly imagined a conversation between the cat and the fly.

The owner assured everyone that the cat was perfectly fine and still as determined as ever to catch that fly!

Wondering why cats are so obsessed with flies? Newsweek spoke to Paula Stewart, a cat expert and director of an animal modeling agency in London.

She explained that cats are “natural-born predators and their predation is instinctive.”

“House cats like the tuxedo cat in this video love to chase a fly because it allows them to display their instinctive behavior of the chase, the hunt, and, when they’re lucky, the capture!” she said.

Stewart added that if owners wish to distract their felines from hunting flies, they could offer other forms of mental stimulation like a feather on a stick, cat trick training, flirt poles, playing ball, or other reward-based cat activities.

In the end, it’s clear that this tuxedo cat’s washing machine tumble is the ultimate testament to the saying: “curiosity didn’t kill the cat, but it did lead to an amusing tumble into a washing machine.”

And we’re willing to bet that won’t be his last daring adventure!
