Michelle Hernandez, a relatively new neighbor, was working from home when Turner rang her doorbell. Having only seen him a few times since moving to the neighborhood five months ago, she was pleasantly surprised by his visit.

“My wife is gone now, so it gives me something to keep me busy,” Turner explained. “I’m going to get these people in one room, and maybe they’ll get to know each other.”

Turner’s daughter, who lives in California, expressed admiration for her father’s social nature, saying, “He’s way more social and has way more friends than I do. He doesn’t just sit around. He’s actively having people over for dinner, or he’s going to the theater or to lunch. He’s always out there.”

Although many who were captivated by Turner’s story couldn’t attend his party, his daughter provided a mailbox address for those wishing to send letters. Turner, who has a love for penmanship and letter-writing, was thrilled to receive dozens of letters from well-wishers.
