  • Daisy, a St. Bernard, collapsed after she reached the tallest mountain peak in England.

  • 16 rescuers came and they carried Daisy down and out from the mountain.

After reaching England’s tallest mountain peak — the summit of Scafell Pike — Daisy, a St. Bernard dog, collapsed from exhaustion.

Her parents tried to encourage her to go down but she refused to move. Because she is huge and heavy weighing 121 pounds, her owners knew they had to ask for help.

So they called the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team, and off they went to rescue the pup immediately! 16 volunteers came to rescue Daisy, who although she was looking good, she was actually a little bit in pain. The weather was getting bad and they had to move fast!

“Team members carefully introduced themselves to Daisy so as not to cause any additional distress, and with the help of a treat or two members were able to assess her condition and administer analgesia for the pain,” they said in a post on Facebook.

Well, befriending Daisy was the easy part, but they still had to figure out how to get her onto the stretcher so they could carry her down and out from the mountain.

Thankfully, they were able to somehow get Daisy settled and proceeded to carry the huge dog down the mountain.

What happened that day was quite unusual because St. Bernards are best known for rescuing people and not the contrary. Still, we are glad to know that Daisy was able to get home safely and have some enough rest.

“She apparently feels a bit guilty and slightly embarrassed about letting down the image of her cousins bouncing across the Alpine snows with barrels of brandy around their necks,” said the rescuers.

But so what? We are still proud of you Daisy for getting onto the top of that great mountain!
