Chubby Pug Gets Stuck in Pet Door [Video]

• Sushi the pug might have been in denial about her weight.
• The chubby pug never saw her weight as an issue until she had to get through the pet door.
• She awkwardly tried to wiggle her way through the cat-sized door but failed.

Meet Sushi the pug. She’s a bit on the chubby side, but don’t let her hear that. She may be in a bit of denial about her weight. It has never been an issue, anyway.

Sushi was simply minding her business one day when her parents temporarily moved her to the laundry room.

They had to attend to their other dog for a bit and afforded no distractions.

But Sushi wanted in on what was happening. The laundry room has a pet door, so she tried to squeeze in. But it was installed by the previous owner and was also cat-sized. Still, Sushi thought she was slim enough to fit.

Her mom, Rachel Wright, told The Dodo, “I guess she knew what we were doing and was determined to get through. I heard her scratching and came around the corner.”

Sushi awkwardly tried to wiggle her way through, but she couldn’t fit. It seemed like a wake-up call.

“She definitely thinks she can fit through and escape from anything. I thought it was hilarious,” Rachel said. “My husband came around the corner and let her out.”

Fortunately, Sushi wasn’t hurt — at least not physically.

Rachel shared, “After that, she went on patrol and scanned the perimeter to make sure there wasn’t any fun going on. I’m sure it hurt her pride a little, though.”

She may have eventually gotten over it after a few consoling treats. In her defense, the pet door was made for cats.
