Police Share Adorable Emergency Call from 4-Yr-Old who Wanted to Show His Toys [Video]

• A four-year-old boy called the emergency hotline one day, telling the dispatcher that he wanted to show them his toys.
• After the call ended, the dispatcher called for an available officer, who then responded and visited the boy’s home.

Emergency hotline responders get their fair share of prank calls, mistaken dialing, and wholesome questions, but one particular call to the New Zealand Police was “too cute not to share.”

In the audio recording of the call, the dispatcher begins by saying, “This is police, where is the emergency?”

The little voice of a child can then be heard hesitantly saying “Hi,” followed by “Police lady?”

The dispatcher responds in a friendlier tone, “Yes, what’s going on?”

After a few exchanges, the boy then says, “I’ve got some toys for you.”

When the dispatcher asks, “You’ve got some toys for me?”, the boy responds, “Yep. Come over and see them.”

As the dispatcher tries to ask the boy his address, an adult gets a hold of the phone, confirming that the 4-year-old had gotten a hold of the phone mistakenly. The child had been helping out while his mother was sick.

Police couldn’t help but share the adorable encounter on Facebook, along with a photo of the smiling boy sitting on the hood of a patrol cruiser. Their official page added that they don’t encourage children to call the emergency hotline for non-emergency purposes, but the incident was simply “too cute not to share.”

It turns out that after the call had ended, the dispatcher still looked for an available officer to visit the kid.

She said, “There is a 4-year-old there who is wanting to show police his toys, over.”

One officer, Constable Kurt, responded to the call. Upon arriving at the boy’s house in the South Island city of Invercargill, the boy proudly showed the officer his toys.

“He did have cool toys,” Constable Kurt confirmed, adding that they had a “good, educational chat” about the proper use of the emergency number, which is 111 in New Zealand.

“The lucky kid also got to see the patrol car and the officer put the lights on for him, too,” the police added.
