An antique dealer in Scotland made an extraordinary discovery when he purchased a colorful stained glass window for just $25 at a local thrift shop.

The window, found in an abandoned home, features a knight and a Latin inscription translating to ‘Robert Bruce, King of the Scots.’

After cleaning away years of grime, Richard Drummond recognized the historical significance and reached out to experts, who dated it as far back as the 14th century.

“I cleaned it off with a brush, then I could see it said ‘Robert Rex Scotorum’,” said Richard.

Museum curators and specialists now believe the glass could be up to 700 years old and may have once adorned a castle connected to Robert the Bruce.

Richard is thrilled by the discovery and hopes the piece will be displayed in a museum if its true history is confirmed.

“It’s medieval art; it’s medieval Scottish history, and in my eyes, it’s just stunning.”
