Happy Tears
Super Bowl Kindness Delivers Lions Fans Joy

Quick Smiles:
- A heartfelt meeting at the Super Bowl connected passionate Detroit Lions fans with new friends.
- A viral video of their story captured the attention of both the team and thousands online.
- The fans received a private stadium tour, signed memorabilia, and encouragement from their football heroes.
Two loyal Detroit Lions supporters, Daniel Brinker and his brother-in-law, Harry Schroeder, attended the Super Bowl with pride, wearing their Lions jerseys despite their team not playing. Their joyful spirit resonated with fellow fan Kathryn Hurley, who was instantly drawn to their genuine enthusiasm.
“After we decided on Saturday that we were going to go, he went to his room to grab his Detroit Lions stuff and said we’re going to represent Detroit,” Brinker said.
Kathryn Hurley saw something familiar in their camaraderie. “Something about them was just very familiar to me with my family and how I grew up,” Hurley shared. “So the second I was like, ‘Hi’ and they were like ‘Hello!’”
Jason Tartick, present at the scene, began recording what he thought was simply a sweet interaction. “So Katherine’s talking to them for a while and from my vantage point, it’s such a kind sweet, wholesome moment — I just have to record it,” he said.
As their conversation unfolded, Hurley and Tartick learned about Schroeder’s courageous cancer battle. This inspired them to share the moment online, inviting support from the wider community.
“And we came up with the idea of why don’t we put something on social media, tell this story and get people to rally behind the Detroit Lions doing something for Harry,” Tartick explained.
The story quickly went viral, with Lions fans everywhere hoping for the team to take notice. Schroeder’s trip to the Super Bowl, a generous gift from Brinker, was already special. “And so when he offered this up and put it on the table, it’s like I don’t think I could accept a gift such as that, but he suaded me. Thank the good lord, he suaded me,” Schroeder said.
Soon after, the Detroit Lions responded with an invitation for a private stadium tour at Ford Field. Brinker and Schroeder received signed memorabilia, personalized jerseys, and a heartfelt message from tight end Sam LaPorta.
This uplifting chain of events blossomed from one simple act of kindness, showing how a warm encounter can ripple out and touch countless lives.
Let this story brighten your day and remind you that even the smallest act of kindness can lead to amazing things. Stay tuned for more inspiring moments from around the world each week!
