A Nebraska mom has found solace in her community and her late son’s basketball teammates after over a year of mourning.

Ely was only 14 years old when he passed away after a car accident over a year ago. The pain is still fresh for his mom, Jennifer Dehart of Ansley.

Jennifer continues to celebrate his son’s life by sharing photos and videos of him on social media.

Her pain hasn’t gone completely, but her healing process is getting along well thanks to the love she receives from her community and Ely’s friends.

She recently shared just how much support she receives in a video on Instagram.

In the clip, we can see basketball players from Ely’s team running one by one to the audience stands to give Jennifer a big hug.

The gesture is simple, but it is more than welcome. Jennifer said that this always happens whenever she goes to see their matches.

She shared, “Every time we go to their games, they’ll hunt me down and give me a hug. It truly means the world to me, because it’s the best feeling.”

“Ely would hug me every day and it’s hard not having him here to do that, so when they hug me, it’s like my child is hugging me through them,” she explained.

It’s heartwarming to see the love that Jennifer receives from Ely’s teammates and the rest of her community.
