  • Support and encouragement continue from both church leaders and the community.
  • Messages of hope and faith uplift Savannah and her family during a challenging time.

As the search continues for Nancy Guthrie, Savannah Guthrie’s mother, heartfelt prayers and kindness are pouring in from across the country.

Archbishop Ronald Hicks, newly installed as the archbishop of New York, offered words of comfort and led a touching prayer on TODAY, standing in solidarity with Savannah and her family.

He said

“It’s heartbreaking.”

“It’s hard to watch. I want to just extend my absolute support, and especially my prayers, not only my own prayers, but she has a community of people who’s praying for her and for her mom and for the entire family.”

Craig Melvin invited the archbishop to lead a prayer.

He responded with compassion, invoking hope and resolution for Nancy and those who care for her.

The archbishop said

“Let’s just take a moment to put ourselves in the presence of God and ask God with his light and His grace and His mercy and His goodness, just be with Savannah, with this entire situation, be with her mom.”

“Bring hope, peace, some resolution to all of this, and let her know of the great love and support and prayers that surround her. In Your name, we ask, amen.”

Savannah herself has called on others for prayers.

She shared her gratitude for the outpouring of support and emphasized the family’s strong belief in hope and unity.

“We believe in prayer. We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. We believe in goodness. We believe in humanity. Above all, we believe in Him.”

“Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment.”

In a spirit of optimism, Michael Rudzena, pastor of Good Shepherd New York where Nancy and Savannah have attended, encouraged everyone to keep faith and positivity alive.

He urged the community to remain hopeful during this difficult period.

He said

“I think we’re all putting ourselves in the position of knowing the dark experiences can be overwhelming.”

“And when we think of Nancy, our heart goes out to Nancy, and we don’t know what we don’t know. And yet, we know that light shines in dark circumstances, and it’s light that gets us out of them. It’s light that brightens our mood and gives us a sense of security.”

Communities coming together in prayer and hope truly make a difference.

Let’s keep sharing encouragement and light with those who need it most.
