Cop gets the best patrol partner: a 6-year-old boy with no arms [Video]
- Harrison Humphries, six, was born without arms, and his parents were told he wouldn’t be able to do anything.
- Harrison proved them wrong. He knows how to use his feet as his hands, and even plans to become a cop one day.
- When he met Officer Rolf Seiferheld, his friend now, he is more encouraged to pursue his dream!
Harrison Humphries was born without arms and was expected to never be able to do anything.
“Harrison was born without arms, and the absence of leg bones, so his hips, fibulas, and femurs,” his mother, Tara Humphries, recalled. “But we were told he would never be able to walk, never be able to feed himself, never be able to do anything.”
But the little brave has defied the odds. He knows how to maximize what he has instead of focusing on what he’s missing. He uses his feet to do everything done by the hands, like brushing his teeth, combing his hair, and dressing himself.
Harrison, six, is even clear about his career path in the future, and knows exactly what he wants to do one day — to become either a police chief or a detective.
It was fateful that he met Officer Rolf Seiferheld, who all the more encourages him to reach his dreams and be positive about his career plans.
A few months ago, while the cop was on a patrol in Duluth, Iowa, Harrison spotted him and started a small talk that he wanted to be a cop someday. Little did both know that the simple talk would lead to conversations, then again leading to a constant Friday thing.
Now, every Friday night, the little boy joins his mentor on patrol. And they both relish that moment.
Rolf would always show Harrison his tools and lets him sit behind the wheel of his patrol car, and Harrison helps him keep his equipment in good shape.
The six-year-old believes that he’s the cop’s partner. And Rolf in return motivates him to pursue his dream. Besides, they already share the same philosophy about police work: “Help people get better,” as Harrison put it.
Tara is greeted with nothing but pure joy over Rolf’s treatment to her baby. “Not many people will take the time or sometimes they’re scared,” she said.
Surely, she knows that her son will reach his dream of being a cop one day, especially with a great cop taking the lead.
