  • Rueben’s unique smile has captured the hearts of social media users.

In a delightful twist of fate, a mini brindle dachshund named Rueben has captured the attention and affection of TikTok users worldwide.

The little pup, residing in British Columbia, Canada, was the last to be chosen from his litter due to a distinctive overbite.

The viral video, shared by @rueben_the_minidach in November, shows Rueben blissfully snoozing on a couch, his upper teeth adorably peeking out.

“Realizing you were the last picked in the litter because of your overbite,” reads the overlay text in the clip.

Yet, the caption reassures viewers: “But now you live the best life.”

An overbite, where the upper jaw extends beyond the lower, can be uncomfortable for dogs.

Treatments often involve orthodontic appliances or even tooth extractions.

Dental issues are not uncommon among our furry friends.

Certain breeds are more susceptible to these problems, making it crucial for pet owners to be vigilant.

Periodontal disease is prevalent in all dogs, with breeds like Chihuahuas, Maltese, and poodles being at higher risk.

Interestingly, small breeds such as Yorkshires and Pomeranians often retain baby teeth, while larger breeds like Labrador retrievers are prone to tooth fractures.

In contrast, collies face a greater likelihood of developing overbites, while breeds such as boxers, Great Danes, and bulldogs might encounter gingival hyperplasia.
