‘David Hasselfluff’ the Cat Rescued From Burning House Using A Pet Oxygen Mask

  • The cat David Hasselfluff was rescued from a fire at their home by first responders from Bellevue Fire Department.
  • Hasselfluff was treated for smoke inhalation by using a pet oxygen mask and then rushed to a veterinary hospital.
  • Hasselfluff is now in stable condition and a GoFundMe page was set up for further medical care expenses.

In the television drama adventure series in the early 80s Knight Rider, David Hasselhoff, played Michael Knight and evaded danger from bad elements with the help of the black Pontiac car, KITT.  It seems that his cat namesake, David Hasselfluff, is not as dodgy as him.

The cat now has 8 lives left after a fire engulfed their house.  Fortunately, he was spared when the Bellevue Fire Department rescuers managed to get him out of the blaze in time and used a pet oxygen mask to treat him from smoke inhalation.

In the Department’s tweet they wrote, “David Hasselfluff is in good hands with our paramedics,” along with a photo of David being cradled by the first responders.

A big part of their home was damaged by the fire. It is good to know that Hasselfluff’s human family is safe.  Four of his four siblings, unfortunately, perished while another feline sibling is presumed to have also died.

Hasselfluff was taken to a veterinary hospital for urgent medical care and is now recovering.

To cover his medical expenses, a GoFundMe page was set up.  A relative of Hasselfluff’s family wrote a fundraiser update that reads, “Hasselfluff is recovering fantastically today. He’s on room air, eating well and he’s off fluids as well. The plan is to arrange a visit for the family tomorrow, and he should be able to join them again soon, once an appropriate temporary accommodation is found.”

The family also expressed their gratitude to all those who expressed their support through words and donations.
