Family Builds A House For Stray Cat To Make Him Stay

  • Gerrie and Loki’s parents noticed a stray cat cautiously approaching their “catio.”
  • They decided to ease their way into his heart by building him his own outdoor house.
  • As the days went by, he finally warmed up to them and settled into his new home.

Cat siblings Gerrie and Loki love watching the comings and goings of the world outside, so their “catio” is their favorite spot. One day, their parents noticed a new cat wandering close by. They thought he was a neighbor’s cat and paid him no mind — until they learned from a neighbor that he was a stray.

So, they decided to win him over. First, they named him Ziggy.

Ziggy would visit twice a day for food. However, he was afraid to be touched.

The cats’ parents decided to build him his own house so he would have his own place to take shelter in, especially with winter approaching.

As the days went by, Ziggy got used to eating at his little house and was slowly warming up to the couple.

The cats’ mom, Renee, told The Dodo, “After a few weeks of feeding, I could finally touch him while he was eating. But as soon as he finished his food, he didn’t want to be touched.”

As the couple was deciding whether to keep feeding Ziggy outside or try taking him inside, they found him curled up in his little house. He was injured!

So they rushed him to the vet, where he got the surgery he needed.

They were able to take Ziggy home, where they kept him in a separate room for a few days.

“After a few days, we let him meet Gerrie and Loki again,” Renee shared. “Luckily they still got along, so we decided to keep Ziggy with us.”

It was quite some time, but Ziggy finally let his new family in. He had found safety and comfort in his new home.

Now settled in, he loves stretching out next to the window and laying near the warm dishwasher. He still loves hanging outside — but now he shares the great, big catio with his new siblings.
