The movie Back to the Future brought joy to millions of moviegoers, and its iconic theme song, “The Power of Love,” still lifts spirits four decades later.

Performed by Huey Lewis and the News, the hit remains a sing-along favorite for generations who grew up in the eighties.

Recently, Huey opened up about living with Ménière’s disease and how it has reshaped his daily life.

“At a certain point you gotta face the music. I can’t hear music,” Huey shared. “Music is not part of my life anymore, which is a hard pill to swallow.”

He mentioned watching other bands from his era still performing and feeling the occasional tug of nostalgia.

“I gotta say, God, I’d like to do that. So there are pangs,” Huey Lewis said. “And I can’t enjoy music. Like when I cook or have people over for dinner, I always used to play them music. And I have a great collection of old big band stuff and old New Orleans jazz, and I don’t play it at all anymore.”

Yet he’s quick to highlight the blessings that have taken music’s place.

Huey now spends peaceful days on the water, discovering a deep love for fishing that brings him contentment and gratitude.

“Some people just have the ‘It’ factor. Huey is one of those people. What an uplifting and positive podcast/interview. I hope you can get Huey on again in the Future, Mike,” a fan cheered. “This was a great one!”
