Kitten Finds Unlikely Place To Feel At Home And Be Just One Of The Kids In A Goat Pen

  • A tiny gray kitten suddenly appeared in a goat pen and bonded with the kids.
  • Jan Goswick decided to adopt the kitty to ease their baby goat Peanut’s need for a companion and named her GG.
  • When GG got sick and had to stay indoors, Peanut and his other goat siblings visited him.

Jan Goswick and her husband bought two Nigerian Dwarf goats and called them Peanut and Marvin.  They immediately loved the goats but unfortunately, Marvin passed away in an accident.  Peanut needed to have company.

As Jan said, “Goats cannot be alone, they must be with at least one other goat. Many people do not understand how fragile goats are, but they are very fragile. I knew the stress of losing Marvy and Peanut being alone may kill him.”

And so, they purchased two more kids to keep Peanut company.  They were not expecting someone would join the kids in the goat pen.

Jan was checking on the kids when she noticed a gray fur ball resting with them. She went to pick it up but it moved and ran away!  It was a kitten!  She went to find it but could not.  And so, she just returned to the goat pen.  After around 30 minutes, the kitten flopped in with the baby goats.

That is when Jan decided to call the kitten GG for Gray Goat.

GG especially took in to Peanut who started acting like his old self again, said Jan.  “He followed them everywhere they went, played with them, teased them, and would sleep with them at night.”

Jan asked her neighbors if the GG belonged to them but no one said yes and so she adopted GG.

GG even became Peanut’s “nurse and comfort giver” when the kid got sick.

And when GG got sick after Peanut, he had to stay indoors and the goats would check on him.  That is how strong their bond had become.

To ease Peanut’s longing for the other goats’ company, the family decided to adopt another cat named Pickles.

The family has now expanded and they have set up a GoFundMe page, for GG’s medical bills and the plan to build an outdoor enclosure to unite GG with his goat siblings. Be well, GG!
