Rodgers Oloo Magutha, affectionately known as the Nairobi Birdman, dedicates his days to rescuing wild birds in Kenya’s capital. With a heart for animals and a head for hope, he nurses pigeons, kites, owls, and other birds that face danger from city life.

Growing up near Lake Nakuru National Park without a family home, Magutha found comfort and joy in caring for injured birds from a young age. Watching birds in the park inspired his lifelong passion for wildlife.

“We used to stay with the birds on the streets,” Magutha told Africa News.

Now, with a stable place to live, he cares for birds at home and educates local youth through his engaging social media accounts. His unique style, lively dances, and fascinating bird facts have earned him a loyal following and raised awareness for urban wildlife.

Magutha hopes to one day establish a legal avian rescue center so he can help even more birds flourish. For now, he relies on donations and releases recovered birds back into the wild whenever possible, making Nairobi a kinder place for winged friends.
