- A Good Samaritan spotted a mama duck pacing in the middle of a busy road as she tried to get back to her ducklings.
- The kind stranger decided to call the police so they can help the ducklings cross safely.
- The police responded quickly and helped stop traffic so every duckling can make it to the safety of the sidewalk.
A mama duck was crossing a busy road in Arizona with her ducklings when she realized that her babies had fallen behind along the way.

She tried to get back to her ducklings, but there were too many cars passing by. It seemed like she was pacing back and forth with worry when a Good Samaritan spotted her and called for help.
Casey Walag shared, โI saw the mama duck pacing. I looked down and saw all of her baby ducks were stuck in the turn lane of a very busy road. They couldn’t hop onto the median where the mama duck was.โ
Casey decided to call the police to help the mama duck and all her ducklings cross the road safely.

Casey praised the officers for their quick response and rescue.
โMany cars slowed and yelled โthank youโ to the officer as he shuffled the baby ducks around the median,” Casey shared. “Traffic stopped on that other side for them to cross.โ
After everyone made it safely across the road, the officer scooped up the ducklings and gently placed them on the safety of the sidewalk.
Casey watched the small family walk into a grassy neighborhood next to the street.
โWe have a lot of ponds and water in our area, so we hoped they made it to one of them safely,โ Casey added.

As they watched the scene unfold, Casey and several other passersby waved at the kind officer to show their appreciation.
The mama duck and her ducklings then waddled out of sight.
Casey shared, โI was so happy they were all safe.โ
It warms the heart to know that there are a lot of people who care for animals whenever they see them in need of help.

I think those poor kids in Uvalde could have used the fast-thinking and general care & concern that were exhibited by both Casey, the onlooker, and the police officer!

The book Make Way For Ducklings by Robert McCloskey comes to mind. The circumstances are very similar but the area of the country is quite different . McCloskeyโs area was Boston and this was Arizona but the kindness is still the same.
