Senior Dog Missing for Six Weeks Instantly Relaxes in Owner’s Arms

Miles’ family was devastated when he went missing. The elderly dog with a limited vision slipped through an open door, and despite his family’s extensive searching, he was nowhere to be found.

After six weeks, the elderly dog was found by some Good Samaritans who turned him over to the Fulton County Animal Services shelter. The animal shelter managed by LifeLine Animal Project luckily found a microchip on Miles, which they scanned to retrieve information about the dog’s owners.

Miles’ family was beyond belief after receiving the call from the animal shelter.

“His owner broke down crying when she was told that Miles had been found and was at the shelter within 30 minutes,” Lauren Ruiz, LifeLine Animal Project’s PR specialist, told The Dodo.

It’s still a mystery how Miles was able to survive being on his own for six weeks. He badly needed a bath and some grooming when he was found.

However, none of those seemed to matter when he was reunited with his family. Ruiz said Miles instantly relaxed when he was finally back in his family’s arms.

“She was elated and emotional when reunited with Miles,” said Ruiz.

Miles looked confused and nervous when he was brought to the shelter, but everything was fine as soon as his mom hugged him. The six weeks of separation have only made their bond stronger.

The up-to-date microchip implanted on Miles, as well as the help of the community, has brought him back home to where he belongs. While the separation has been quite traumatic for Miles, he’ll surely be back to his old self in no time with some TLC from his family.
