Shelter Dog DNA Update Sparks Surprise
Quick Smiles:
- A DNA update sparked a surprising discovery.
- Reddit users shared screenshots and reactions.
- Gwen’s shelter adoption led to cherished memories.
Valerie lost her dog Gwen to cancer last year; Gwen had been adopted from the Foothills Animal Shelter in Colorado in 2016 and was estimated to be born in 2014.
An Embark DNA update showed a 72 percent match linking Gwen to another dog born in 2022, which sparked online curiosity.
“I believe the sample was switched between the two dogs; that’s what makes sense. I just didn’t have a lot of faith in the results after the one sample was temporarily lost.”
The Reddit post earned more than 640 upvotes and drew dozens of comments and screenshots.
“While unlikely, litters 8 years apart are possible, especially if these pups were adopted from the same shelter.”
