Stray pit bull protects lost toddler until neighbor helps find his family [Video]

Pit bulls are loyal and sweet-tempered dogs, but some people still see them as scary and violent. There have been many stories that have shown how sweet and caring these pups are, and this story is one of those. Back in October 2020, a stray pit bull made sure to keep a lost toddler company while a Good Samaritan helped look for his family.

It was around 8 a.m. one day in a St. Louis neighborhood.

A woman, who chose to remain anonymous, was walking her dogs when she spotted a toddler wandering down the street.

The woman told KTVI, “He looked well taken care of, he was very neat, very clean; he just didn’t have [shoes] on.”

The lost toddler was dressed in pajamas, and was accompanied by a large pit bull.

The woman decided to help look for the boy’s family, so she started knocking on doors to see if anyone recognized the boy. All the while, the pit bull closely followed by, as if to protect the little kid.

They searched for hours until the boy’s father recognized him in a social media post and reunited with him.

The boy had clearly grown fond of his canine companion.

He had kept repeating the word “puppy” when he reunited with his family.

The Good Samaritan who helped reunite the family said it was the least she could do for her community.

She reminded everyone of the importance of sticking together and helping each other out to build a sense of unity.
