  • Phoebe the Border Collie has been separated from kittens Biscuit and Grayvy due to an illness.
  • Phoebe was excited to be reunited with them after 10 days, but Grayvy was initially hesitant.
  • Grayvy eventually warmed up to Phoebe’s bushy tail, and the kittens snuggled up to Phoebe in the end.

Dogs and cats are the most famous pets, but they are typically depicted as enemies. So, it’s incredibly precious to see such heartwarming interactions between the two species. One such interaction between a sweet Border Collie and two tiny foster kittens melted the hearts of online viewers.

The precious reunion was shared on TikTok with the caption, “Reuniting with the Kittens!”

At the start of the video, Phoebe and the kittens can be seen interacting with each other through a glass divider. The text explained that “Phoebe wasn’t allowed any direct contact for a while due to a parasite infection.”

When Phoebe was finally allowed to see them up close again, she couldn’t contain her excitement!

Reuniting with the Kittens! The initial greeting did not work out the way she had hoped. Grayvy was unsure about Phoebe after being separated from her for 10 days (due to an illness). Phoebe was sad, but patient and it paid off in the end. #kitten #catsanddogs #catvideo #dogvideo #love #fyp ♬ Get You The Moon – Kina

But “the initial greeting did not work out the way she had hoped,” the video caption read. Biscuit seemed to remember Phoebe, but “Grayvy was unsure about Phoebe after being separated from her for 10 days.”

The little kitten needed time to adjust, so he kept his distance while testing out some interactions with Phoebe.

Grayvy seemed to remember Phoebe’s tail, which “all the kittens love.”

It wasn’t long before Grayvy allowed Phoebe to lick his face. As the video ends, we can see the kittens snuggling up to Phoebe, who gets a treat for being such a good girl.

Cats and dogs historically do not prefer each other’s company, according to the U.K.-based charity, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. But they “can form close relationships.” An August 2020 study in the peer-reviewed journal PLOS ONE also noted that the two species show and interpret body language differently.

Given the complex behavior of both species, it’s advised to take things slowly by careful introduction “to prevent excessive reactions.” They noted, “Even if your dog has lived with a cat before, new cats may not necessarily be tolerated. If they are to become friends, it is essential that the dog is not allowed to frighten the cat.”

In the video, Phoebe was asked to lay low for a while to avoid scaring the kittens.

Phoebe was sad that she didn’t get to play with them right away, but her patience paid off when the kittens eventually warmed up to her again.

Over 10.1 million users viewed the video, which received over 1.8 million likes.
