In an unusual twist of fate, a tiger and a boar found themselves in an unexpected predicament in rural India.

Both animals took an accidental plunge into a well near the Pench National Park and Tiger Reserve during what started as a hunt.

The scene was set in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, where the young tigress was in pursuit of the boar.

As the chase led both into the depths of a well, villagers quickly called upon wildlife authorities for assistance.

The spectacle of the tiger and boar treading water together drew quite a crowd.

Thrashing around in the water, separate footage shows the tiger pawing at the boar, but not striking.

Rescue teams arrived with a plan, lowering a cot into the well to serve as a platform for the animals.

A steel cage was also lowered, as bringing the tigress up without restraint was deemed too risky.

Initially, both creatures were cautious of the platform.

However, the tigress soon climbed on, allowing the boar to use her back for support, sitting side by side with its would-be predator.

The tigress eventually entered the cage, much to the delight of the onlookers above.

The door slid down, trapping her inside to the celebrations of the crowd of onlookers above.

After the successful rescue, both the tiger and the boar were released separately back into the forest.

The Pench Tiger Reserve team shared about the event, noting the “swift action” and “expert coordination” that ensured both animals were unharmed.

This remarkable episode serves as a testament to the resilience and adaptability of wildlife, even in the face of human-induced challenges.

And perhaps, just for a moment, the tigress might have given the boar a little head start.
