  • A racist businessman in Silicon Valley shouted hurtful things to an Asian family in a restaurant where they were dining.
  • The waitress, not having any of it, stepped in and ordered him to leave.
  • People were touched by the waitress’s actions and donated a tip for her that amounted to $82,000.

People from all over the world pitched in to reward a waitress who stood up against a racist businessman from Silicon Valley inside the restaurant with a whopping $82,000 tip.

Gennica Cochran who works at Lucia restaurant located in Carmel Valley, California, walked Michael Lofthouse out of the establishment. The 37-year-old racist from Britain yelled racist abuse at an Asian family who were having a meal together in the restaurant on July 4.

People called the waitress an “everyday hero” and donated money to her GoFundMe account.

One of the pages set-up for Gennica is titled ‘A Big Tip for an Everyday Hero’ and has collected $65,000. While another two GoFundMe pages raised $15,000 and are still counting.

In an interview with KGO-TV, Gennica said some of the money will support her yoga teaching, and the rest will be sent to other heroes in the service industry.

In the viral video, Gennica was ordering Michael to leave the restaurant after he shouted at Jordan Chan and her family a “f***ing Asian piece of s**t” and that “’Trump is going to f*** you” in his tirade.

“I felt very protective of them,” Gennica said. “To hear the emotion coming out of my voice, to see my mannerisms, it was unbelievable it was just something that came over me and I just did what needed to be done.

“I did what anybody else should or would do in that situation,” she said.

Gennica couldn’t let any racist ruin the experience of their first customers after they have just reopened from being temporarily closed amidst the pandemic.

The Chan family was having a birthday celebration at Bernardus Lodge and Spa’s Lucia restaurant when Michael had his irresponsible rant.

So then Gennica stepped in  and told him: “You do not talk to a guest like that, you need to leave now.”

Michael is the CEO of Solid8 based in California, which is a small tech company — with a low-budget website that offers cloud storage and virtual security and has only between two to 10 employees based on LinkedIn.

The person filming the video said: “say that again,” which apparently the video started after Michael had already begun his verbal abuse. “Oh, now you’re shy. Say it one more time.”

Michael flipped up his middle finger and shouted some more nonsense before he stood up to leave as Gennica went to tell him: “Get out of here. You are not allowed here. You do not talk to our guests like that.” She then told him further that the Chans were valued customers and he is banned from the restaurant.

He later issued a public apology.
