Adorable Dog Thinks and Acts Like his Cat Siblings

  • When Bethany’s family went to a local rescue to adopt a dog that would get along with their cats at home, they did not expect one like Mako.
  • When they got home, the family soon realized that Mako might actually have been raised thinking he’s a cat.
  • He simply loves doing cat activities with his cat siblings — he doesn’t bark, he loves cat treats, and he’s always climbing on top of tables and counters!

Mako seemed like the perfect match for Bethany Castiller and her family.

The family went to a local rescue to adopt a dog — one that they hoped would get along with their cats at home, Pecan and Gizmo.

When they came across Mako, they realized that he just had to go home with them, especially since the shelter also assured them that he got along with cats really well.

Bethany told The Dodo, “We joke that we didn’t really pick him, he picked us. When we went to the rescue shelter he had his back against the cage so we started petting him and he looked over his shoulder and gave direct eye contact and we just fell in love with the little guy.”

Mako completely got along with his cat siblings at home.

The family soon realized that Mako might have been raised with cats and is now thinking he’s actually a cat.

He just loved doing all the classic cat activities!

He also doesn’t bark and loves cat treats!

The sight of Mako climbing on top of tables and counters initially confused his family.

Eventually, they just accepted it and realized that they had simply adopted another cat instead of a dog.

Bethany shared that Mako even chases and jumps after toys like the cats. He just likes doing the same things with his siblings: laying on the tables, birdwatching by the window, and laying on his back for a tummy rub!

Mako’s family can’t help but laugh whenever they come into the room and spot him on top of something just as if he were indeed one of the cats.

Bethany shared, “Whenever Mako sees the boys on the counters or cabinets he hops up to join them. He really just wants to be around the cats all the time. If he is not in the room with one of us humans, he’s with the cats.”

Mako may not be the typical dog that his family was expecting — but they surely wouldn’t have him any other way.
