Beyoncé and Venus Williams to Co-Chair Met Gala
Quick Smiles:
- Beyoncé, Venus Williams, and Nicole Kidman will co-chair the 2026 Met Gala with Anna Wintour.
- The gala will celebrate the exhibit “Costume Art,” exploring fashion’s connection to art over centuries.
- The new showcase will debut in a dedicated 12,000-square-foot gallery space at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The Met Gala has announced an extraordinary lineup of co-chairs for 2026, with Beyoncé, Venus Williams, and Nicole Kidman joining Vogue’s Anna Wintour to host the highly anticipated event.
Venus Williams steps into the co-chair role for the first time, following in the footsteps of her sister Serena, while Beyoncé and Kidman reunite with the gala after past leadership roles.
Last year’s event raised a record $31 million for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, and excitement is building for the upcoming celebration.
This year’s gala committee also includes big names from music, film, dance, and sports, reflecting the wide-reaching influence of the event.
The gala will coincide with the “Costume Art” exhibit, which aims to highlight the relationship between fashion and art by displaying garments alongside pieces from across the museum’s collection.
“It’s a show that can really live in fascinating ways at the museum and can pull from all different areas of our collection — paintings, sculpture, drawings,” said museum CEO and director Max Hollein.
Curated by Andrew Bolton, the exhibit will explore unique themes such as the “Naked Body,” “Classical Body,” “Pregnant Body,” and “Aging Body,” showcasing the diversity of human experience through fashion.
The new gallery space, previously a retail store, offers an expansive setting and marks a milestone for fashion at the museum.
Bolton shared that the gallery “will mark a pivotal moment for the department, one that acknowledges the critical role fashion plays not only within art history but also within contemporary culture.”
Venus Williams, who recently made a celebrated return to competition, adds her inspiring energy to this year’s co-chair lineup, promising a memorable evening for guests and viewers alike.
The “Costume Art” exhibit opens May 10, 2026, and runs through January 10, 2027, giving fashion lovers plenty of time to experience the artistry on display.
