  • After losing to France in the quarterfinals of the World Cup, England players Kyle Walker and John Stones announced they are bringing home the cat they befriended at training.
  • Walker and Stones are still undecided on who gets to keep the cat named Dave but the cat is going home with them.
  • Dave will stay at a quarantine facility for 4 months before he can finally be with either of the two players.

England’s Manchester City failed to secure a slot in the finals as they lost to France 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the World Cup 2022 in Qatar.  But two of their players, Kyle Walker and John Stones are winning hearts all over the world when they announced that they were bringing home a good friend to England instead of the trophy. A stray tabby cat will have a new forever home and family with either Walker or Stones in England.

Stones have already named the feline Dave. He shared how their fondness for the cat started: “First day we got there … Dave pops out. Every night he sat there waiting for his food.”

Walker added, “Dave is welcome to the table … Some people really don’t like the cat, but I love him.”

The cat joined them at their World Cup training camp in Al Wakrah and stayed with them.

The two players grew attached to Dave.  Walker originally said that if they win the World Cup, he would definitely bring the cat home.  But the good thing is that even if they failed to secure the trophy, they are still bringing their furry friend home.

Walker also shared that before their final match with France, Dave got involved in a fight with another cat.  He is happy to announce that Dave is fine.

Walker and Stones still have to decide who is going to have Dave but the cat is definitely going to England.

But before Dave could be with any of the players in England, he still has to stay in quarantine for four months.

Dave will certainly help Manchester City over their loss just like Prince William who sent the team and manager some words of encouragement:

“Gareth, Harry and the whole @England squad and staff, gutted for all of you. You put so much into this tournament, and we are all so proud of you. Heads held high and on to the next one! W.”
