Jealous Dog Fakes An Injury After Her Brother Hurts His Paw

• Mabel loved being an only dog until she had to share her parents’ attention with her new baby brother.

• So when her brother got injured and needed bandages, she pretended to need some for herself as well.

Mabel was perfectly happy with her life as her family’s only dog. But everything changed when her parents got her a baby brother when she was only 3 years old. She now gets jealous every time she feels like her dog sibling gets more attention!

She found herself having to share her parents’ attention with Milo the goldendoodle puppy.

Their mom, Carrie Bartsh, tries her best to shower them with love equally, but they don’t always feel that way.

Mabel gets jealous of Milo, and even their cat, when they get special treatments that he doesn’t even need.

So when Carrie trims the hair around Milo’s eyes, she has to “trim” Mabel’s as well. And when the cat needed some ear drops, Mabel had to wait her turn for her “drops,” too.

Mabel and Milo love play-fighting, like most siblings.

They “wrestle like puppies,” growl, and play-bite. Sometimes “Milo will run 100 mph and plow into Mabel and roll her right over.”

Mabel takes charge and “keeps Milo in line,” while Milo keeps Mabel feeling young.

One day, the siblings were out on a walk when Milo had an accident.

Carrie noticed that Milo had a small cut on his paw, so she rushed to get supplies from the vet.

Mabel wasn’t too worried about Milo’s injury, but she did notice that it got him extra attention and special treatment.

When Carrie called Milo for a bandage change, Mabel rushed over to wait for her bandage.

Her mom eventually got her to move and was able to fix Milo’s bandage, but Mabel quickly returned and plopped herself down for her turn.

Carrie found the situation hilarious: “Who puts fake bandages on their jealous dog?”

But she knew she had to put a bandage on Mabel, too.

Carrie shared, “I ripped the empty gauze pad wrapper so she would think I was putting a gauze pad on her and pretended to put one on, and then wrapped a little vet wrap around her leg and gave her kisses on her head and told her she was all done. She seemed quite satisfied and got up and went on her way.”

Milo is on the path to recovery. In the meantime, Carrie makes sure to change the bandage every night — and Mabel gets a fresh one nightly as well.
