  • Boston 7News reporter Julianna Mazza was about to give news on a stolen dog when she spotted a man walking a dog with the same description.
  • With a hunch that it was the same dog, Julianna quickly approached the man.
  • She found out that the man was the culprit and promptly reported it to 911!

This is not a right-place-right-time kind of luck, but rather a journalist’s investigative instinct working on high alert.

The moment Boston 7News reporter Julianna Mazza spotted a man walking a dog nearby, she had a hunch that he was the suspect behind the recent dognapping she was supposed to give a news report on.

Having noticed that the dog perfectly fit the stolen dog’s description, a German shorthaired pointer named Titus, the sharp-witted news anchor quickly approached the man. Promptly, Julianna also motioned to her cameraman to start recording.

Wanting to see the pet’s tag to follow through her suspicion, Julianna told the man that she just wanted to pet the dog. She then took the chance to confront the culprit and frankly ask him a series of questions — one was why the dog’s name tag didn’t match the name the accused was calling the dog by.

The man looked rattled over Julianna’s questions and started giving lame excuses. Julianna then didn’t think twice and called 911 to report about the stolen dog.

It was found out later on that the man was the same man who broke into the car and stole Titus a week ago.

The perpetrator is charged with larceny of over $1,200, and for breaking and entering a vehicle with the intent to commit a felony.

Twitter users gave compliments to Julianna and the crew for their heroic efforts.

Reunited with Titus, the owner was likewise very grateful to the journalist and the entire crew. “I’m just glad that the person came back and I’m just glad that you guys were there. If anyone ever sees this who questions the value of media, social media, broadcast media, this proves it.”
